Sleep disorders are now one of the most common health complaints and can affect a person mentally, emotionally and physically, disrupting the day-to-day functioning of an individual. Often we may find ourselves lying awake due to feeling anxious, exited or worried about something, but for most of us this is a rare occurrence.

An individual with a sleep disorder may suffer from teeth grinding, nightmares, insomnia, restless leg syndrome, sleep paralysis, sleepwalking or even excessive sleep. These disorders may be the result of medication or a medical condition; you should always consult your GP if you are having problems sleeping. Once these are ruled out it might be time to find the route of the problem, this is where hypnotherapy can help.

At Farnham Hypnotherapy we focus on understanding and changing patterns of behaviour for each individual, your sessions are tailored specifically to your needs, not a ‘one size fits all’!

Hypnotherapy will recondition negative patterns of behavior, finding the route of the problem and dealing with it appropriately, thus altering the individual’s perception of the situation. Many of the problems associated with sleep disorders can be effectively treated with hypnotherapy, such as stress and anxiety. Typically it is not the situation itself that causes us problems, but the way we react to it. Once your hypnotherapist has induced a state of deep relaxation they are then able to access your subconscious, find the negative thought patterns and teach you how to manage them and see them in a different perspective, thus allowing you to cope with the situation in the future.

We are also trained in NLP (neuro linguistic programming), this is not something all hypnotherapists use, but can be extremely effective. Once a person is able to visualise a positive response to a situation NLP can give them the skills to actively use their mind and emotions to successfully run their lives.
